A recent graduate of BA Fine Art at Leeds Metropolitan University, Woods’ work employs the notion of ‘making the best of a bad situation’ as a concept that influences his working practice. Through the careful selection, distribution and modification of materials and the incorporation of discarded everyday items, Woods produces collages and assemblages that suggest that all possible materials have an equal value to the materials that are traditionally associated with art. Wood’s ‘Negative Collage Portraits’ take a similar principle and apply it instead to analogue photography techniques.

Alistair Woods exhibited Negative Collage Portraits at BasementArtsProject as part of Divided We Fall in August 2012 and March 2013
