Having twice included the work of Alistair Woods in exhibitions associated with 2012/13’s Divided We Fall project. BasementArtsProject is proud to present the first solo exhibition and residency  project by this recent graduate of Leeds Metropolitan University. At the opening event BasementArtsProject will be presenting  works purchased from Woods during DWF. Over the course of the following two weeks Woods will be building a new, site responsive installation that will be presented at different stages of it’s progress, until the finished article is presented, in full, at the closing event.

Alistair Woods

Woods’ work employs the notion of ‘making the best of a bad situation’ as a concept that influences his working practice. Through the careful selection, distribution and modification of materials and the incorporation of discarded everyday items, Woods produces collages and assemblages that suggest that all possible materials have an equal value to the materials that are traditionally associated with art. Wood’s ‘Negative Collage Portraits’ take a similar principle and apply it instead to the processes and techniques of analogue photography.
