Essay – ArtRun run, no race to be won, but boy what fun

With the intention of drawing attention to the activities of some of Leeds’ many independent  artist led spaces BasementArtsProject has organised a 10k run as a means to guide people between an afternoon of activities relating to both art and sport.

Starting from BasementArtsProject the run will take in the headquarters of Leeds based live art collective Indivisible, the home of East Street Arts at Patrick Studios, Enjoy Art Space on Mabgate and will end with an event dubbed Woolgather Olympics at Woolgather HQ in Burley.

The event will also be raising money for Leeds based performance group and  charitable organisation Urban Sprawl.

A big thanx to all of those who took part in the day be they studios and venues, visitors or organisers. A special thanx to those who ran the course:

Brian, David Cotton, Debs Davies, Janey Dodge, Lucy Meredith, Adam Ogilvie and Lucy Porter & family who did the whole thing by bike

Later in the same month BasementArtsProject took part in a Woolgather event in Leeds city centre to read about it visit Live Art Action
