Pippa Eason

My practice is largely sculptural, and I often make work to inhabit its chosen space, to twist and curl around it playfully, serious play being intrinsic to my practice. I often use nostalgia as a tool, with gentle humour, in an attempt to give a nod to times gone by. I allow my work to have vulnerabilities, making many small works that fit into a family of forms. 

The work made for this project is based around me questioning what makes an object and what makes a monument. I wanted to create a form that contrasts most of my ‘soft’ forms. I have made a monolith piece, with some delicate embellishments. The piece is aiming to play on what public sculpture can truly be, co-opting a typical gallery type form with a solid robustness.
