BasementArtsProject is an organisation that understands what it means to operate on a shoestring. This much has been essential over the last 12 years. What it does mean, is that having cut our cloth accordingly we have had to have one eye always on the material cost of working. Whilst larger organisations have in recent years had to do some soul searching with regards to the sustainability of exhibition practices, it has always been at the forefront of our practice out of necessity.

This exhibition sets out to look, not only at environmental sustainability, but sustainability of practice: how artists deal with materials, the logistics of exhibiting, the problems inherent in the nature of production and how this relates to the wider world of production in other more commercial areas.
