Jean McEwan
Jean McEwan is a Bradford-based artist and organiser working across visual, curatorial, collaborative and socially engaged practices. Her outputs have included photography, installation, experimental video, and artist books and zines.
McEwan’s recent practice has involved an investigation into ideas of gift, generosity and exchange via a series of artworks, collaborations, projects and blogs as well as through research. This process has led to an exploration of how these ideas operate in culture, and an increasing interest in the potential of conversation as an active and generative means for change. McEwan was a recent recipient of a Re:view bursary from a-n and is currently developing a participatory research project exploring the uses and meanings of family photography.
Jean McEwan was one half of artist-led curatorial collaboration ‘popup’ (2005-9) and is founder of Bradford zine Collective ‘Loosely Bound’.
