LOCKDOWN JOURNAL: COVID-19.17 (Chuck Hamilton)
Many years before BasementArtsProject, in fact quite a few before the Peripheral collective, and before I left the Wirral, I was involved as a volunteer with an art gallery called The Blackthorn. It was here that I had the pleasure of meeting and working with artist Chuck Hamilton and a couple of his colleagues from Savannah, Georgia USA. Chuck is the owner of the A.T Hun Gallery in Georgia. This post is for Chuck and The Hun.
Quarantine Paintings
Folks, I have been BUSY . Ya know, applying for business loans, doing a little motorcycling, a lotta this, lotta that, lotta what-have-yous.
Mostly, though, I have been PAINTING. So here are my two latest, along with a photo of quarantined, couch-potato me, to show you the relative size of the canvasses.
The paintings are the continuation of the "painting of a painting" concept. As many of you know, I love texture, luscious color, and evident brush strokes, and this is my way of "zeroing in" on those qualities.
The larger painting "Warna" is named after the latest Joey Alexander jazz album of the same name. "Warna is Indonesian for "color". ( Seen below right, it is not an angled photo, that's how the whole painting looks.)
These paintings are so new, they aren't even on the gallery website yet. If interested in a purchase, email me at chuckartst@gmail.com, or athunart@gmail.com, or call me at 912 604 6148.
