LOCKDOWN JOURNAL 2.1: Say It With Your Chest

On a freezing cold Sunday afternoon I met up with Abdullah Adekola for a socially distanced walk through Middleton Woods where we discussed his ‘Say It With Your Chest’ project: A black-led poetry collective.

On our perambulations we talked about politics and pandemics, families, backgrounds and Black Lives Matter amongst many other things . . . We also discussed the wide ranging possibilities of a project at or with BasementArtsProject.

Of course the pandemic and it’s restrictions keep rolling on, and we do have a programme that has so far been delayed by a year to realise, which we will, but lets just say WATCH THIS SPACE as we develop ideas with Abdullah and look forward to a time in the, very hopefully, near future, in which we can all sit down together, view art, enjoy poetry and talk once more face to face.
