A Fell is a space which Timothy requires; not just to create, but to feel a peace of mind he sometimes struggles to maintain.
For Timothy, Covid has been a time to meditate on what has been removed from his daily routine; to collect memories and moments which might satisfy this time of distance. As a Landscape painter, Timothy has expanded his understanding of how others have previously engaged with nature, becoming particularly fascinated in Zen meditation and the art of calligraphy. His practice has expanded into large scale watercolours, graphite drawings and short poems which focus on his sensual encounters with landscape.
As restrictions begin to slowly lift, Timothy has returned to the natural world with a greater appreciation and desire to capture the values of his local Fells.
Timothy Forster is an artist working in Ilkley, West Yorkshire who is primarily concerned with how we might fragment and reconstruct the experience of landscape.
In addition, Timothy is a commissioned portrait artist, providing unique impressions in graphite, watercolour and oil paint.
